School is out for the summer, which means the Radix Intern Program has officially begun!
We’re extremely excited to bring two bright young minds (Mark & Kelly) into the Radix HQ this summer to learn all things communications. Mark started last week and is already off to a running start! Get to know him in the Q&A below and make sure to say ‘hi’ when you see him around this summer.
Without further ado, please welcome Mark Ashla to the Radix family!
Where do you go to School and what are you studying?
I attend Loyola Marymount University (Go Lions!) and currently study Communications.
What piqued your interest in communications?
I’m very compelled by the study of social dynamics and public discourse. I’m especially fascinated by the way emerging communication mediums like social media affect our social realities. Finally, rhetoric, public speaking, and argumentation are areas of skill for me.
What do you do for fun?
Lots! I’ll admit that I am a ‘movie-buff.’ I really enjoy a good film, especially if it’s well acted.
I’m also an actor and I participate in comedy sketches and plays whenever I can. I love to hike and travel, too. A couple of my favorite outdoor destinations include Utah, Hawaii, and Costa Rica.
What word or expression do you most overuse?
“Without a doubt!”
What was the first piece of music you ever owned?
An Elvis Presley, “Best Of” CD, followed shortly by Bob Dylan’s “Girl From the North Country” (still one of my favorites).
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Something people-oriented. Public Relations is a big possibility for me. I am also interested in psychology, acting, or consulting jobs in organizational communication. I’m still trying to narrow it down.
Your proudest achievement?
Overcoming my fear of heights by bungee jumping in Costa Rica.
What is your dream Car
A BMW 7 Series.
Where do you want to retire?
Tough question! I love beach cities like Playa Del Rey or Venice, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up in San Francisco or Boston.
What is your life’s motto?
“Ancora Imparo” by Michaelangelo (written at age 87)
