LA Tech has a lot to be proud of

Not only do we have some of the hottest tech companies around we also know how to throw a great party.

On March 9, 2014 over 2,000 people gathered together at two of Austin’s hottest venues along the hugely popular stretch of Red River. With a line around the block to get in, Pelons and 508 Tequila bar provided the perfect backdrop for our third annual LA Tech Connect event during SXSW Interactive hosted by Radix Collective and Digital LA.

Even with a SX party list a mile long, LA Tech Connect was the place to be if you wanted to connect with old friends and meet some new ones all while sipping a beer or frozen margarita under the looming oak trees that surrounded the expansive outdoor patio.

Our resident DJs from the Austin Table Manners Crew brought together an incredible lineup mixing a little bit of Austin with some hometown flavor by way of DJ DIGG and DJ EXPO live and direct from LA on the 1’s and 2’s.

But the main attraction were the impressive collection of LA tech companies on display during this all day party. Over 26 companies from LA were represented, including presenting sponsors Radix Collective, Digital LA and Cornerstone on Demand, 14 exhibiting companies (complete list below) and 10+ community sponsors.

Each team brought their own unique spin to this Sunday party during SXSW making LA Tech Connect stand out among the noise that accompanies one of the largest technology conferences in the world.

Our title sponsor Cornerstone on Demand, clearly SXSW veterans, provided charging stations, hangover kits and complimentary 10-minute chair massages for the SX-weary attendees offering much needed respite from the toll SX takes on the body after 2 full conference days.

Momentfeed made an immediate impression on people as they entered the demo section of the venue with an impressive spread of Stubb’s BBQ. Because, what’s a trip to Texas without BBQ?

Demand Media hosted a cupcake and coconut water booth with a live social feed of the online conversations around #SXLATECH.

ZEFR gave out free T-shirts, BuiltinLA provided tacos, and Outspoken’s section included a photo booth to properly capture the silliness that goes hand-in-hand with an all-day open bar.

LA Tech Connect was about bridging the gap between LA and other growing tech communities throughout the U.S. We saw a lot of familiar faces and we made some new friends from NYC, London, Austin, Seattle, Chicago, and Brazil, to name a few. We’re excited about all of the positive feedback we’ve received so far and can’t wait to hear more as things unfold in the next few months.

From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank all who participated, attended, and supported this worthwhile endeavor. It was a lot of work but truly rewarding and we hope we will see you at future Radix and Digital LA events.

Connect with us the next time you’re in LA, we’ll tell you where to find the party!
